Identity:
The Utility Regulation Research Centre (URRC) is a multidisciplinary research centre with participation from academicians and practitioners working in accounting, economics, finance and law. Initially the centre would focus on the electricity sector and then move on to the other sectors.
The centre emerged as an initiative of a group of researchers and practitioners. At present the centre depends on the voluntary efforts of the few individuals and researchers. However, efforts are on to mobilise people and funds to undertake specific research activities
Objectives:
To develop an integrated and holistic approach to the study of regulation, and regulatory mechanisms.
To establish an international network for knowledge dissemination.
To contribute to a greater understanding of the economic, social and political basis for changing forms of regulation, and of their impact and effectiveness.
